Doctor, Professor, Sir, Madam,
You are a DIANE prescription assistance software user.
Every year in October, the clocks in several countries around the world go back an hour, marking the changeover to Winter time. The switch to Winter time in Europe will take place on the night of Saturday 25 to Sunday 26 October 2025 between 2am and 2.59am, resulting in a day that lasts 25 hours.
This can lead to unexpected behaviour in DIANE:
Scheduling not applied correctly in the care plan, as the latter displays 24-hour days.
•Example: for a schedule of 1 administration per hour, the care plan will be missing an occurrence.
•Incorrect infusion duration when the infusion is in progress between 2am and 3am. One hour less will be recorded in the care plan. The fluid balance will be affected as a result.
Recommandations :
We recommend that you schedule these tasks before or after the time change.
•To ensure consistency, we advise against scheduling prescriptions between 2:00 and 2:59. Therefore, any prescriptions containing planned intermediate actions must be stopped before the time change and rescheduled after the time change to avoid any loss of data.
•Make sure that appropriate documentation is carried out to differentiate the administration of daylight saving time from that of Winter time.
•Once the time change has been completed, check the patient’s current care plan. In the event of an error, changes will need to be made to prescriptions or protocols. Make sure you modify them accordingly.
•Data from biomedical devices recorded in Diane between 2:00 and 2:59 will be replaced by the data received again between 2:00 and 2:59 following the time change. Creating a temporary CR or using a temporary intervention/resuscitation file for one hour will allow you to retain the initial data.
